Derby County striker James Collins says there was an 'incredibly happy dressing room' following the Rams' thumping 5-0 victory over Morecambe.

The striker scored the fourth of Derby's five goals on Saturday afternoon and helped the Rams to their sixth Sky Bet League One win in a row.

Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, Collins gave his reflection on a solid day's work at Pride Park Stadium.

On the performance...

It's a happy dressing room, it's a great three points. These games, that you are expected to win, can sometimes be banana skins but credit to everyone today we got the job done and played some great stuff at times.

On the opening goal before half-time...

It was massive as it probably changed their half-time team talk. It was a great finish from Didzy and then to score pretty much straightaway after half-time was great because it meant they really had to come at us. It could have been seven or eight in the end so credit to the lads, we never took the foot off the gas and it was a great performance.

On how pleased he was to score...

As a striker you always want to score goals and today I was obviously pleased to get on the scoresheet. Me and Didzy had a penalty each and as strikers you always want to be scoring goals. If you're winning 5-0 at home you're disappointed if you can't do that.

It's what we're paid to do though and the lads at the back kept a clean-sheet as well which shouldn't go under the radar.

Everyone involved today played their part and it was a great day.

On David McGoldrick...

He's some player, isn't he?

I've known hiim for years, we're really close off of the pitch and he's Premier League quality isn't he?! He's 35 now but that's not going to stop him. He's still going well, still banging them in and you can see the quality he brings on the pitch. We're a better side when he's in the team.

On the unbeaten run in the league...

Monday's FA Cup tie against West Ham was a bit of a free-hit so we never really let that defeat get to us. Our home form and our league form is the most important thing. We want to get promoted out of this league and we bounced back from that West Ham defeat really well today.

On how to keep the run of form going...

We've just got to keep doing what we're doing. Keep training hard, keep taking information on board and not take our foot off the gas.

When we went up with Luton Town during my time there I think we went 28 games unbeaten and we got promoted. This team is more than capable of doing that and we've just got to keep going. It's a tough month with some big games coming up and we just have to keep going.
