Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One 'Manager Of The Month' award for January.

Warne's nomination comes after he guided the Rams to a flawless opening month of 2023 in league competition.

Derby took a perfect 12 points from 12 across January, scoring eleven goals and conceding just four in the process.

They were also able to showcase different sides to their game winning each match in varied fashion.


A 4-0 thumping of Accrington Stanley at Pride Park Stadium opened the month before they followed that up with a hard-fought 3-2 victory on the road at Cheltenham Town.

Beating play-off rivals Bolton Wanderers 2-1 on home turf midway through January was a huge statement before things rounded off with a comeback of the most dramatic fashion, coming back from 1-0 down late on to win 2-1, against Port Vale at Vale Park.


Four wins from four proved vital in cementing the Rams' place in the top six whilst also keeping them within touching distance of the two automatic promotion places.

Sheffield Wednesday's Darren Moore who also guided his side to an unbeaten January, Steve Cotterill of Shrewsbury Town and Morecambe's Derek Adams are have also been nominated for the award.

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

The winner will be announced on Friday 10th February.
