Post-Match Verdict: Max Bird Vs Ipswich Town (H)

Derby County midfielder Max Bird believes that key moments in games aren't quite going for the side at the moment.

The Rams lost 2-0 to Ipswich Town at Pride Park Stadium in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon but Eiran Cashin saw a goal disallowed whilst the score was still 1-0 to the visitors.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game, Bird gave his thoughts on that key decision and the performance overall.

On the performance...

I thought we started slowly but eased our way into the game and finished the first half really well. In the second half we started really well and looked like our old self but we scored and it got disallowed wrongly and it's moments in games going against us. They are a good side, haven't conceded a goal in a long time but we play to win a game of football. We've got no choice but to stay positive, take the positive bits from today and take them into Friday at Forest Green Rovers.

On the disallowed goal...

I was running back thinking it was a goal and then the referee said it was a foul. I couldn't see anything from where I was standing. Their players weren't really appealing for anything and then when I came off, I asked if it was a foul and they said no. It's just one of those things. We can't do anything about it so we'll look back at the game and try and put a game plan together for Friday.

On the first 10 minutes...

We were a bit edgy and nervous as a team and then we sort of got a grip of the game and put them on the back foot.

We had little half-chances and Didzy's header was a good chance that hit the side-netting. That end product hasn't been there in the last couple of games so we've got to look at that and try and address it.

On whether Ipswich are the best side they've faced...

I think so. They are high on confidence whilst we're on a bit of a wobble, but I think we're coming to the end of that.

We've got to take each game as it comes and win the next game and the next game. There's no point being down about today, we've got to put it behind us. We're all in it together, we all have the same target and we have to keep that target in sight.
