Jake Rooney has committed his future to Derby County after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract.

The 19-year-old defender has signed a new three-year deal which will run until the summer of 2026.

Rooney joined Derby from Burnley last summer and the Liverpool-born player went on to force his way into the first team reckoning under Head Coach Paul Warne on a regular basis.

Featuring at both right-back and centre-back, Rooney made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Rams and provided cover on the bench on several occasions.

Rooney made his senior bow in a 2-1 victory at Mansfield Town in Round One of the Carabao Cup last August, while his first league appearance came in a 3-1 victory at MK Dons a few months later.

From his 18 appearances he made 14 starts and a further four outings off the bench.
