Midfielder Max Bird (ankle) has stepped up his recovery after just over a month out of action but is yet to return to full-contact training.

Wing-back Joe Ward (heel) is also progressing well a month on from being sidelined but is also yet to resume training with the first-team.

Striker Tyreece John-Jules (quad) picked up an issue in training last week and is being monitored ahead of Tuesday's cup clash..

Captain Conor Hourihane (hamstring) came off injured in the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth at the weekend and is still being assessed to understand the extent of his injury prior to Tuesday evening's match.

Pre-Match Thoughts

First-Team Coach Matt Hamshaw spoke to RamsTV on Monday to preview the first group fixture in the EFL Trophy against Lincoln City.

He said: "Lincoln are a good team with a good manager and are well organised. They are struggling with injuries at the minute but have picked up some good results.

"They want to play the right way and they will be up for it as all teams are that come to play at Derby County.

"It's important we match that fire with our own fire and start off on the right foot."

Defender Kane Wilson sat down with RamsTV following his return from injury to preview Tuesday evening's clash.

He said: "Tuesday night's game can't come quick enough really so we can get at it, get straight into the game and put a performance down and get a result.

"We need a game where it feels like we've dominated for 70-80 minutes of the game and going to get a result that matches that. We've got the capability and we've got the players to do so, there's some brilliant players here so hopefully it will turn like that soon."

Match Officials

Sebastian Stockbridge will take charge of Tuesday evening's EFL Trophy match.

Christopher Husband and Johnathon Bickerdike will assist him whilst Mark Jones has been appointed as Fourth Official.

This will be the seventh game that Stockbridge has officiated so far this campaign. He's handed out 30 yellow cards, one straight red and awarded one penalty across those matches.

EFL Trophy Format

If the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes then each club is awarded one point. In addition, the match will be followed by a penalty shoot-out and the club that wins on spot-kicks will be awarded an additional one point.

EFL Trophy Substitute Rules

In the EFL Trophy, each club is permitted to name up to seven substitutes on their team sheet, of whom not more than five may take part in the cup tie.

Each club is only permitted a maximum of three opportunities to make substitutions during the game, although clubs may make substitutions at half time and any that are made will not count towards the maximum of three opportunities.
