Defender Eiran Cashin is hoping Derby County's busy October period can be a successful one.
The Rams will face Saturday-Tuesday games for near the entirety of the month and Cashin is hoping a win on the final day of September on Saturday, when Cambridge United visit Pride Park Stadium, will help kick-start the momentum into October.
Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the contest, the centre-back reflected on what has been a difficult past week, his recent performances and looked ahead to the clash against the U's.
On the past week following Josh Vickers' sad news...
It's been a tough one to take. We love Josh and we knew the circumstances but when we found the news it was heart-breaking for us all. Straight away we just wanted to be there for Josh and show our support. The gaffer has been really good, explaining the situation and what we can do to try and help him. Hopefully we can show him the love that he needs right now.
On Saturday's tribute at Carlisle...
The staff have known Josh for a little bit longer than we have because they were at Rotherham United together but everyone that knows Josh knows what a nice lad he is. We are heartbroken for him but we just want to show the love and support for him. Even the fans, some of the things on social media with the fans getting behind him has been really touching.
On the difficulty focusing on matches...
Last Tuesday's game against Lincoln in the EFL Trophy was really tough, it was a really emotional game. I think the gaffer tried to use the emotion to put a positive spin on it and use it to get a result for Josh and told us not to let him down with what we do. I think it was clear and evident in the way we defended, tracked back and worked hard. It was to show a tribute for Josh and his family.
On back-to-back wins in League One and the EFL Trophy...
We're delighted, really. I think they are the building blocks we need to push on. Clean-sheets are always important and to get two in a row now is massive. Hopefully we can build on that and get a run going. There are things we can get better at but good teams sometimes might not play the best and still get results and keep clean-sheets. Fingers crossed we can build on that and start performing really well. When you get a run together, everything is possible.
On his recent performances...
In the game last Tuesday I was a lot more in possession whereas on Saturday I was a lot more out of possession and defending. There are still things that I can get better at but hopefully I can build on that into Saturday's game against Cambridge and the ones after that. Hopefully the momentum will take care of itself.
On watching his personal clips back...
I love doing it. I know I'm not the final product. I often look at them and ask advice off the coaches or the senior players. They are the ones that have the answers to the questions I'm asking so I always try and watch them and try and get better.
On his partnership with Curtis Nelson...
He's very good at communicating and I'll often ask for advice, but it goes both ways. I'll tell him what I want from him in a game and he'll do the same for me. That's an important thing when it comes to building a good bond and partnership together.
On trying to turn the Pride Park form around...
We know we've had a tough start at home but the fans are getting behind us and those last two wins have been massive so hopefully we can make it a third on Saturday.
On the busy upcoming spell...
Recovery and everything around that is massive so hopefully we get a win on Saturday and then we need to focus on doing the right things off the pitch as well as on it to make sure we have the right numbers and energy to keep going. Hopefully it can be a really good period for us.
