Young forward Tony Weston described himself as 'over the moon' to be handed his first-team debut for Derby County in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Wednesday evening.

Weston came on at half-time in Derby's 4-1 victory over Wolves Under-21s at Pride Park Stadium in Northern Section - Group G and grabbed a goal and assist for his efforts.
The win saw the Rams top the table and reach the knock-out stages of the Trophy and the 20-year-old, who joined Derby's Under-21s from Scottish side Rangers in the summer, caught the eye.
Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, Weston reflected on a memorable night.
I'm over the moon to come on and get the opportunity to go and play in front of the fans for 45 minutes. It's a bonus to get a goal and assist.

It was a natural and instinctive finish, really. It's something we work on all the time in training. I like to poach goals and I'm happy with it.

I found out today. The Under-21s played on Sunday at Middlesbrough and when we came in for our recovery work I was told I would be training with the first-team on Tuesday. I just went out and trained and worked hard, like I do every day, and then found out I was in the squad today.

I'm made up for everyone. All the lads that took part and even the lads on the bench have thoroughly deserved it. They've obviously been doing something right to earn the trust of the Head Coach and his staff.

I've settled in fine to be fair. I feel since moving my family to Derby that I've settled in really well and feel a lot more at home. It's been a big change but now that I've got it all sorted I can focus on my football.

That's up to the boss; it's his choice. I'll keep working hard and keep my feet on the ground and keep trying to do my best every day.
