Derby County Women will hit the road once again this weekend when they head to Lincoln City on Sunday afternoon in the First Round of the Women's FA Cup (1pm kick-off).

dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you will need to know ahead of the FA Cup clash.

Manager's Thoughts...

Manager Sam Griffiths has described the clash with Lincoln as a 'big game'.

Griffiths was disappointed with the performance of her side in last weekend's 1-1 league draw at home to Halifax and is calling for an improved showing this time around.

After having time to look back on the 90 minutes against Halifax and work on several aspects of their game in recent days, Griffiths is seeing this week as a fresh opportunity to go again.

She said: “We need to look as a group of staff as to how we can put what didn't go well last week right for this week. It is my job to pick the players back up again and this week has been a new week.

It is a big game and we want to do well in the FA Cup. It is important that we go to Lincoln and get through to the next round.

From The Dressing Room...

Captain Amy Sims is looking to create more positive memories for the Ewes in the FA Cup.

Derby are already in the Quarter Finals of the National League Plate and Sims is eager to see the side impress in another cup competition.

Sims said: “The FA Cup is a competition that is well known.

We have to go to Lincoln and put right what we didn’t do in our last game against Halifax.”

The Season So Far...

Derby County Women have been in good form in recent weeks after a slow start to the 2023/24 season and are unbeaten in four matches in all competitions.

Back-to-back league losses to Wolverhampton Wanderers (2-1 at home) and Liverpool Feds (3-2 on the road) was followed by a 7-1 hammering of Stourbridge to claim their first three points of the season.

A 1-0 loss at home to Newcastle United was their final fixture of September before the side claimed a superb 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in early October.

A 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City followed a few days later, and since then Griffiths' side have picked up successive 4-0 league wins on the road at Huddersfield Town and AFC Fylde and a 1-1 draw at home to Halifax last time out, as well as a 5-2 rout of Northampton Town in the Second Round of the National League Plate after defeating Doncaster Rovers 5-0 in the First Round earlier in the month.
