Derby County goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith described the dressing room as 'really disappointed' following the 3-1 Emirates FA Cup First Round replay loss to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.

The Rams were beaten 3-1, despite taking an early lead through winger Tom Barkhuizen, under the Pride Park Stadium floodlights against the Sky Bet League Two promotion chasers.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, the shot-stopper gave his verdict on the defeat.

On the result...

The lads are really disappointed. We felt it was a chance to have a really good run in the FA Cup and that's gone now. It all started well getting the early goal but we had that ten minute spell in the first half that really went against us.

We had to be patient, there was plenty of time left to create chances and get ourselves back into it but the third goal was extremely disappointing and it took the tie away from us a little bit.

The lads are disappointed and even more so after a great result at the weekend against Barnsley. To back it up with this isn't what we were after.

On confidence going into the game...

I think the lads were really confident going into this one, especially at home. There was no reason for a performance like that and it was a bit of a shock really.

The lads are really disappointed in there and I don't think it's from a lack of effort. I just think we were a bit impatient at times, especially when we went behind.

The mood is sombre in the dressing room and the lads are really disappointed to go into the international break on the back of a defeat but it gives us a chance to work on things.

On whether he felt the comeback was on again...

You always have to believe. In recent games, goalscoring hasn't been an issue so we're really disappointed that we couldn't really make a clear-cut chance in the second half tonight.

Once the third goal went in the match itself stretched away from us. We have to focus on the league now and really give it a good go over the coming months and put ourselves into a position where we can challenge at the top end of the table.
