Defender Eiran Cashin says Derby County 'can't get complacent' as they look to stretch their impressive unbeaten run further when they take on Peterborough United in their first fixture of 2024.

The Rams go into the New Year's Day clash at Pride Park Stadium with eight wins and one draw from their last nine Sky Bet League One outings and whilst the side's form and performances have been impressive, the centre-back knows standards have to remain high.

Speaking to RamsTV after the stunning 3-2 victory at Oxford United on Friday night, he reflected on the final game of 2023 and looked ahead to the mouthwatering clash with the Posh to start the new year.

On the Oxford United win...

I don't think we started too well for the first 10 minutes but, after that, we displayed good character and dominated throughout afterwards. To get my goal at the end and the three points is great, but the three points is what matters.

On the mentality to come back from 2-0 down...

Sometimes you want to rush and get the goals straight away and force things but we got the first goal at a good time at the end of the first half and the gaffer said to us that we cou;d go and win it. We wore them down, we kept playing and eventually they were going to give up chances and we took them when they came.

On finding different ways to win...

It shows the character of the lads and not just the lads that started but those that came on and the ones on the bench cheering us on as well. It's all about the squad and there's a good feeling at the moment. When you have that good feeling you just want to keep going and moving on to the next one.

On the return to Pride Park on New Year's Day...

We're buzzing to get back home and hopefully we can start the New Year well. Peterborough are a good team but we can beat good teams, we have shown that.

On keeping the run going...

We can't get complacent. We've been a lot more dangerous from set-plays and set-pieces which is good because we've got great delivery from the lads on the pitch and if you're not playing well, nicking a goal from them can change the game. We need to keep our standards high in training, in the warm-ups and just doing everything right off the pitch to ensure we have the best chance.
