Post-Match Verdict: 'A Bitter Blow To Lose So Late' - Elder

Derby County defender Callum Elder admitted it was a 'bitter blow' to concede so late in the 3-2 home defeat to Peterborough United.

The Rams conceded with virtually the last kick of the game as the Posh came from behind to win 3-2 at Pride Park Stadium in a thrilling Sky Bet League One clash at Pride Park Stadium with James Collins scoring twice for Paul Warne's side.

Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, Elder, who came off the bench at half-time, reflected on the 90 minutes.

On the result...

It was a bitter blow to concede so late on. I thought we fought until the end. We've been on a great run over the Christmas period and were aiming to go 10 unbeaten today. We set out to win the game but, unfortunately, we came up short. We came up against a good side with loads of energy and they moved the ball well. We got ourselves into a good position at 2-1 up but we just didn't do enough to see the game out. We've got to dust ourselves off now as we've got another busy period coming up and we'll go full steam into that.

On Peterborough United...

They are up there with athleticism, energy and they are well drilled. I think it was two top teams going at it today. We put a lot of effort in off the back of an amazing win at Oxford on Friday. We came up short today but we'll take the positives out of it and move forward.

On conceding so late...

If we're going to progress and get to where we want to be at the end of the season, we'll have to address the last 15 minutes. They came on strong and, looking back, we probably need to show more resilience as a collective. We'll remain positive as we've been on an amazing run and we'll look to carry that on moving forward.

On the recent run...

The gaffer said before the Christmas period started that it was going to take a big effort from everyone. I think we've shown a real togetherness over the last six weeks to put together the run we've been on. We also had chances to kill the game off in the second half today but unfortunately it didn't fall to us. It's disappointing to lose, but we go into Fleetwood on Saturday with a positive attitude and we will be looking to get a good result.

On being back involved after injury...

It's been a difficult start to the season for me after picking up a few injuries, but it's all about the team this season. Every player and staff member in that dressing room has the same goal and that's to get promoted. Whilst I was out, I got around the lads and remained positive because I just want to be out there fighting with them all, as we all have a common goal.
