Derby County’s new signing Ebou Adams say he ‘cannot stop smiling’ after completing his move to Derbyshire.

The 28-year-old has joined the Rams on a loan deal until the end of the season from Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City and becomes the second signing of the window after Corey Blackett-Taylor put pen-to-paper earlier this month.

Speaking to RamsTV for the first time following the completion of his deal, Adams couldn’t hide his delight at making the move to Pride Park Stadium.

On signing for Derby County…

I feel so happy, I can’t stop smiling actually. I’m happy and excited to get going!

On when he was aware of the interest…

I’ve known for a good couple of months. I was aware of it strongly before I travelled to the Africa Cup of Nations and after I’ve come back, I thought it was a good opportunity to play for a club in the position that they are now. I don’t think Derby County should be in that position, so hopefully I can help push push the club to where they belong.

On his AFCON experience with Gambia…

It was very mixed, but the atmosphere and organisation was amazing. The food was really good, too! I played in the first game against Senegal. Sadly, it didn’t end how I wanted it to end but that’s part and parcel of football and I’ll learn from it. I’m just looking forward to playing football and playing with a smile on my face now.

On his 2021/22 season with Forest Green Rovers…

It was incredible. To get promoted and to be named in the Team of the Season shows how hard we all worked, not just as a person but as a team. Kane Wilson was obviously there, too. We had a great team and to get promoted and be named in the Team of the Season topped it off.

On who he knows already at Derby County…

I’ve spoken to Kane Wilson and Curtis Nelson, those two are the top of my call list at the minute. They told me about the club and how amazing it is and how I’ll be suited to fit in. They said it will suit me down to a tee so for them, you can use them two as an agent in all of this! It’s great to hear so many good things about the club though.

On Paul Warne…

He’s pretty excited and I just want to repay him and repay his faith for bringing me here. It’s an opportunity for me to make a mark. I’ve had a tough year and I want to show him and show the fans what I can do.

On what he will bring to the Derby team…

I will bring energy. I can’t stop smiling, I’m so excited to be here. I like to get around the pitc, I’ve got so much energy and I love to get in the box to try and score some goals. I love winning tackles. I just love being everywhere around the pitch and hopefully the fans will see that and I can display that towards the end of the season.
