Derby County Women will kick off an action-packed March when they host Burnley at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick-off).

dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you will need to know ahead of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division fixture.

Manager's Thoughts...

Manager Sam Griffiths believes her side can take great confidence from their performance in their recent 2-1 loss to league leaders Newcastle United when they take on the Clarets.

Burnley, like Newcastle, are competing at the very top end of the table and Griffiths says the Ewes have shown they can compete with the very best the division has to offer.

It will be the first time Derby and Burnley have met this term after the initial fixture, scheduled for early December, was postponed owing to heavy snow across Derbyshire.

Griffiths said: “Burnley are a good team, a strong team.

“We proved at Newcastle in how we performed there that we can compete against the teams at the top end of the league table.

“We want to give a good account of ourselves. It will be a totally different test to Exeter in the National League Plate, but we’re back at home and looking forward to it.”

The Last Time We Met...

Derby and Burnley met in three competitions last season, but they're yet to face off this term!

You have to go all the way back to the opening day of the 2022/23 season for the last league meeting between the sides in Derbyshire.

Derby had twice taken the lead through Amy Sims before the visitors hit back to equalise twice and then went on to grab the winning goal deep into added time to claim a 3-2 victory.

The Clarets won by the same scoreline in the League Cup a few months later, before winning 4-1 in Lancashire later in the season.

Becky McGrother and Jess Camwell were on target in the cup clash, while McGrother was also on target in the league reverse.
