Post-Match Verdict: 'To Hear The Fans Sing My Name Is A Dream Come True' - Gayle

Derby County striker Dwight Gayle says it's like 'a dream come true' to have the supporters singing his name again after what he has described as a difficult two years.

The frontman scored his third goal in as many games for the Rams in the 2-1 home victory over Reading on Tuesday evening and Gayle says things couldn't be going much better for him at the moment after joining the club as a free agent last month.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game at Pride Park Stadium, which saw Derby retain second spot in Sky Bet League One, he reflected on the win over the Royals and looked ahead to Saturday's home fixture against Bolton Wanderers.

On how he's feeling after another goal and win...

I'm over the moon. Perhaps it could have been a bit more comfortable for us towards the end but, at the moment, it's just about getting the results and we did that tonight. They scored at a bad time for us, but we managed to get the second and we were able to send the fans home happy ahead of the big one on Saturday against Bolton.

On the assist from Joe Ward...

Wardy is such a technically gifted player. He's got such good technique and puts the ball into such good areas. As a striker, it's what you want so as soon as he gets the ball, you start to make those runs. Luckily, I was able to get on the end of one of them.

On getting in behind the defence for the penalty...

It came from a great pass from Ebou Adams, who put one on for me in the first half as well. It's just about getting these connections. Myself and Wardy have one, like we've discussed, but it's about getting these partnerships built up and working together.

On whether he feels like a man in form...

I feel over the moon at the moment. The last two years have been frustrating for me on the goal front and to be back in and amongst it is fantastic. To hear the fans singing my name, it's like a dream come true again to be going out there and having a smile on my face again.

On what's been different for him so far at Derby...

It feels like a nice environment in terms of what the gaffer has created. Everyone is pulling in the same direction and it feels like I've come into somewhere very welcoming where everyone is working on the big prize, which is getting promoted.

On the visit of Bolton on Saturday...

It's going to be a tough game. We know we'll have to be at it to get a result, but these are the opportunities to look forward to and get the fans behind us. Hopefully we can get a result.
