Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne has been named as the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for March.

Warne led the team to five wins out of six matches across the month as Derby picked up an impressive 15 points out of a possible 18.

March started off with a 3-0 victory over Port Vale at Pride Park Stadium and rounded off with an impressive 1-0 win over top six hopefuls Blackpool on home turf.

The month also saw Derby equal a club record of 12 away league wins in a season with a 3-0 triumph at Bristol Rovers and was followed up with a 2-1 success over Reading under the floodlights at Pride Park a few days later.

The pick of the results, however, was the vital 1-0 victory over automatic promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers at Pride Park.

Warne beat off competition from Charlton Athletic’s Nathan Jones, Portsmouth‘s John Mousinho and Lincoln City’s Michael Skubaala for the award.

Warne said: “The team produced some excellent results and performances during March. We found different ways to win games at a key time in the season and the entire playing squad and backroom staff deserve great credit for it.”

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel contains former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
