Midfielder Liam Thompson was delighted following a 'positive performance and a positive result' for Derby County after they beat Leyton Orient 3-0 at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from defender Sonny Bradley added to Kane Wilson's early goal to complete a comfortable day's work for Paul Warne's side in Sky Bet League One before a crowd of over 30,000 supporters as they retained second place in the league table.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, the midfielder gave his verdict on the performance and the win.

His thoughts on the game...

It was a positive performance and a positive result. It was one that we needed and we're just buzzing.

On what instructions the was given...

We just needed a reaction from Wednesday's draw at Wycombe. We knew we had to be organised as a team and we knew we'd get joy from set-pieces, which ultimately we did. I just think it was an all round good team performance. We got our tactics right and we were brilliant.

On the impressive set-pieces today...

They have been huge for us this season and the staff bang on about it all the time. It just shows how important they are because they were vital in us getting the win.

On his role in midfield today alongside Ebou Adams and Korey Smith...

I really enjoyed it. They are both top players. Ebou is everywhere and brings quality and Korey is the calm head in there that is constantly talking to you. We were landing on second balls which proved really important. I really enjoyed playing in there with those two.

On the subdued celebrations at the end...

We've done nothing yet, ultimately, and we've got to continue to have that mindset. It's easy to get carried away at this stage of the season, but we've won nothing yet. We've got to focus on the next game which is Cambridge United away next Saturday and make sure we get three points, no matter how we do it.
