Derby County Women will round off their 2023/24 season with a trip to Burnley on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you will need to know ahead of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division fixture at Turf Moor.

The Last Time We Met...

The Ewes produced an impressive performance but were ultimately beaten 2-0 by Burnley when they met in Derbyshire back in March.

Sam Griffiths’ side provided the Clarets with a stern test at the Don Amott Arena.

Derby were well in the contest and had opportunities to take the lead before Aimee Kelly’s long-range strike after 72 minutes broke the deadlock.

The Ewes pushed for a leveller, but Abby Clarke tapped home a second goal late on to ensure the visitors claimed all three points.

Manager's Thoughts...

Manager Sam Griffiths wants her side to enjoy the prospect of taking on the Clarets at their Turf Moor home.

Burnley have pushed for promotion for a lot of the season but have fallen short in their race to pip Newcastle United to top spot.

Griffiths believes the Ewes have produced some of their better performances against the sides competing at the top end of the table this term and she is hoping for more of the same to round off the current campaign.

She said: “The girls have got to go and enjoy it.

“We’re playing at Turf Moor, a Premier League ground, so it is a nice sign-off for them.

“We’ve had some of our better performances against the top teams, so we will go there and see what we can do.”

From The Dressing Room...

Winger Kira Rai says the Ewes’ mindset remains the same as they look to end the 2023/24 season on positive note.

Rai, who scored in last weekend’s 4-3 home win over Liverpool Feds, is eager to help push the side into the summer break in a positive manner.

She said: “We want to go there and win, like we do every time we step onto the pitch.

“It doesn’t matter if it is the last game of the season or anything like that, we just want to win.”

She added: “That is our mindset and it won’t change.”
