POST-MATCH INTERVIEW: ‘We have to take responsibility and be ready to work hard’ - Adams

Midfielder Ebou Adams gave a frank assessment of Derby County’s defeat against Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night.

The Rams were beaten 4-0 as John Eustace took charge of his first game as Head Coach, after joining the club on Thursday.

Ilias Chair’s double and goals from Koki Saito and Ronnie Edwards saw the hosts take away all three points.

Derby now look forward to playing Millwall at Pride Park Stadium next Saturday, with a full week’s training allowing the new coaching team to set their stall out as the Rams aim to turn around their fortunes in the Championship.

Adams spoke with RamsTV following the match at Loftus Road.

On falling to defeat in London…

I think we were doing all right in the first 15 minutes and a mistake led to the first goal. After that, it feels like we really dropped our heads and we gave them too many opportunities and lost too many duels, which they took the advantage of. It's a bad day at the office.

On needing to build confidence and get results…

We're going to have to put the game behind us and look at what mistakes we've made, what we could work on and then move on quickly, because we're in a situation we don't want to be in.

On the importance of having a full week of training with the new coaching staff…

It'll be massive. The gaffer has got good ideas for us to work on. We've got a week to work now, we have to look at ourselves as players and we've got to take responsibility for that performance tonight. We have to apologise to the travelling fans that came here. We'll now use that week to build and put this behind us and hopefully turn it on its head.
