PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW: ‘We need to maintain the confidence we’ve gained as we keep pushing’ - Armstrong

Midfielder Harrison Armstrong believes the Derby County squad can feed on the confidence gained from their first win under Head Coach John Eustace ahead of Tuesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Coventry City.

The Rams picked up a vital three points against Blackburn Rovers, with Armstrong being picked as Man of the Match as Derby took a hard-fought 2-1 win.

The 18-year-old Everton loanee made his sixth appearance for the Rams in what Head Coach John Eustace described as an ‘outstanding and mature’ performance after the game.

Derby will be looking to build on the momentum of Saturday when they host Coventry at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Armstrong caught up with RamsTV ahead of Tuesday’s Championship clash.

On being named Man of the Match in Saturday’s win over Blackburn Rovers…

Yeah, I think it was an important game. And a massive three points. I thought I'd done my job well - Ebou Adams and Liam Thompson next to me really helped me out. And everyone did their jobs, which just made my job even easier.

On the togetherness and fight in the squad…

That's the culture we're trying to create. We're trying to be together. We're one big family. And I think with how our season's gone so far, it's important we can continue to stick together.

On taking to the physicality of senior football…

Yeah, it's fine. I was in for a recovery yesterday, so I'm sort of ticked that off already. Yeah, I haven't played for a while, so this recent run of games has sort of took my body a bit by shock, but I'm ready to go tomorrow. I think I've got a good relationship with everyone [in the dressing room]. There's not one person I can say I don't get on with well. I think they've all taken to me well.

On a tough test under the lights against Coventry…

The confidence is there now - something we maybe lacked in other games prior to the one at the weekend. It's just important that we maintain what we started and can carry that on into Tuesday and then the game at the weekend.
