PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW: ‘You can’t beat the confidence boost that winning can give you’ - Harness

Marcus Harness says Derby County's squad are ‘fighting together’ and can take confidence from consecutive wins in the Sky Bet Championship ahead of their trip to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The 29-year-old Ipswich Town loanee featured in his 32nd Championship game in black and white as he bagged his second goal for Derby to cement the Rams' 2-0 home victory against Coventry City on Tuesday night.

With nine games of the Sky Bet Championship to go this term, Derby look forward to another vital opportunity to pick up points as they head to Home Park in their last outing for two-and-a-half weeks.

Harness caught up with RamsTV to look ahead to Saturday's clash against Argyle.

On Tuesday’s 2-0 win against Coventry City…

It was massive for us and hopefully gives it can give everyone in the building and the supporters something to believe in and some confidence that we can pull ourselves out of the position we are in. Everyone's feeling much more optimistic and we're going to keep attacking the games as we have been, and we'll see how we get on.

We've been working hard all season and trying to improve and trying to figure out where we need to change. You just can't beat the confidence of winning games and the feeling of winning, especially at home when the crowd are going nuts again and fully behind us. Myself and I'm sure a lot of the other lads are feeling very excited to go into the last block of matches.

On building momentum and seeing improvements under John Eustace and his coaching staff…

We've had a lot of good time on the training pitch. Having a game on Saturday and then a week of training instead of having midweek games to break it up for the first few weeks has helped. We would have liked to have gone into the first game under the gaffer at Queens Park Rangers and had a real bounce, but it didn't happen. It's clear to see for everyone that we're taking on a lot of the ideas of the new staff. People know their roles and responsibilities and we look like a real team out there in the last couple of games. I think that's from the work that we do in the week, and I believe it's only going to get stronger. We're a team and we're fighting for each other, and we'll do our best to get every point that we can from the remaining games.

On the close nature of the league table…

That’s how tough this league is; every game is a fight and you're not guaranteed to come out of it with any points even if on paper people might think you deserve to. We're just going to concentrate on ourselves like we have throughout and like we have over the last couple of games. We'll take every fixture in isolation and do the work to prepare for each individual opponent because everyone is going to be different and, hopefully, we can have some more good results. It's in our hands. It's up to us to do what we have to do to get ourselves out of it. I have, and I feel like the whole group has, a lot of faith that we'll be able to do that.
