NEW CONTRACT: Long-Serving Forsyth signs new Derby County deal

Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has signed a new contract with the club that will take him into a 14th season at Pride Park Stadium.

The 36-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal which will run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign and see the club support Forsyth in achieving his qualifications in preparation for a potential coaching role in the game, after he calls time on his playing career that will have spanned over 20 years.

Forsyth - who initially arrived on loan from Watford in March 2013 before signing permanently a few months later - played a crucial role in Derby retaining their Sky Bet Championship status for the 2025/26 season, particularly under the management of his former team-mate John Eustace.

He played 42 times in total and started the final 12 league games as Derby embarked on a run of form that earned survival on the last day of the campaign.

Important goals and assists were a feature of Forsyth’s 2024/25 season.

In the latter stages, he scored in home wins against Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End and provided assists as four vital points were picked up away at Portsmouth and Hull City.

The defender is approaching 400 games in black and white, and he sits 16th on the club’s all-time appearance list.

In total, he has played 382 times for Derby and scored 13 goals.
