Derby County Under-21s midfielder Freddie Turley has been named as the Republic of Ireland's Under-19 International Player of the Year.
Turley received the accolade at the Football Association of Ireland’s annual ceremony in Dublin last week.
The 18-year-old captained his nation's Under-19s side on seven occasions from eight appearances during the 2024/25 campaign and impressed with consistent displays.
He was also a regular for Derby’s Under-21s during the season, playing 24 times in Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup combined. He also gained match experience in the Central League and National League Cup competitions, as well as the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
In addition, Turley was an unused substitute for the Rams’ first team on three occasions in the Sky Bet Championship. His first involvement was in the 2-0 home victory over Queens Park Rangers in October 2024, as well as the 1-0 loss at home to Sunderland and the 2-1 reverse at Cardiff City in January 2025.
Turley joined the Rams last summer from League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers after impressing during a loan spell at League of Ireland First Division outfit Bray Wanderers, making 22 league appearances and a further three in the Leinster Senior Cup.
Turley, who joined the Rams on a three-year deal until 2027, played for Shamrock Rovers in the Leinster Senior Cup, as well as turning out in the UEFA Youth League.
A versatile player, Turley can play all through the middle of the park and has experience on the wing and at full-back.
Turley has plenty of international experience to his name too, having risen through the youth ranks in the Republic of Ireland set-up, playing at Under-16 through to Under-19 level.
