ACADEMY NEWS: Midfielder Wahling joins Academy ranks

Derby County Academy have confirmed the signing of young German midfielder Jamie Wähling.

The 19-year-old will join the Rams’ Under-21s squad as a free agent after departing the youth set-up at German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim at the end of last season.

Wähling began his footballing career with FC Neureut and was in the youth ranks of Karlsruher SC until January 2021, when Hoffenheim came calling.

Over the last four seasons, Wähling has featured over 70 times in the German Under-17 and Under-19 leagues.

In 2024/25, he featured five times in the UEFA Youth League for Hoffenheim Under-19s, playing against IFK Göteborg, AJ Auxerre and Shakhtar Donetsk – scoring four goals and providing one assist.
