ACADEMY NEWS: Under-21s duo Price and Hawkins secure loan switches

Two Derby County Academy players have made short-term loan moves to gain first-team match experience.

Goalkeeper Harley Price has joined up with Southern League Central side Worcester City, where fellow Academy youngster Jack Thompson enjoyed a loan spell in the opening weeks of the current campaign before he sustained an injury that required surgery.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper has made three appearances in Premier League 2 for Derby’s Under-21s so far this season having stepped up a level after featuring 18 times in the Under-18 Premier League - North last term.

He will look to gain senior football experience, having previously had a short youth loan with AFC Telford United in April 2025.

Meanwhile midfielder Harry Hawkins has joined up with National League North outfit Bedford Town.

Hawkins also previously had senior football experience out on loan with AFC Telford United last season, helping them gain promotion via the play-offs.

The midfielder has featured three times in Premier League 2 so far in 2025/26 and made his first appearance for Bedford on Tuesday night, coming on as a half-time substitute in a 2-2 draw with Hereford FC.

Price and Hawkins have joined a number of Under-21s players in heading out on loan with goalkeeper Harry Evans at Coleraine in Northern Ireland, defender Daniel Cox with League Two side Walsall and midfielder Darren Robinson at League of Ireland outfit St Patrick’s Athletic.
