Derby County captain Lewis Travis admitted the side’s second-half fightback wasn’t enough against Preston North End as they came up short in a 1-0 defeat.

Travis made his home debut and captained Derby at Pride Park Stadium in the 1-0 loss against the Lilywhites, having signed from Blackburn Rovers last month.
An impressive long-range strike from Preston’s Alfie Devine in the first half was enough to see the visitors claim maximum points at Pride Park.
Derby pushed to get back level, especially in the second half, with chances for Bobby Clark and half-time substitute Patrick Agyemang being well defended by North End as the Rams’ three-game unbeaten league run came to an end
RamsTV spoke to the Derby midfielder after his side’s loss on home turf.
I think we were too passive with a disappointing performance in the first half. We needed more quality on the ball and more accountability off the ball.
In the second half we ended up changing shape and we really took the game to them, but I feel like it was too little too late, to be honest.

Even in the first half, we created chances - but in the second half, we were very good. There was loads of intensity on and off the ball. We took it to them, but I feel like we should have been doing that first half. I'm not too sure why we didn't, to be honest.

It was a great honour to captain the boys today in front of the home fans, there was a fantastic atmosphere. The fans were always with us. It's going to be fantastic playing here every other week.
There is a fantastic group of lads here. Now we just need to put things right on the training ground and we just need to replicate that second-half performance for the rest of the season.
