ACADEMY NEWS: Goalkeeper Thompson joins Braintree on loan

Derby County Academy goalkeeper Jack Thompson has joined Braintree Town on a short-term loan.

Thompson, who has featured regularly for the Under-21s this season, will spend the next month with the National League side.

The 18-year-old stopper has already gained senior experience during loan spells with Worcester City, Kettering Town and Alfreton Town, while he also joined John Eustace's Men's First Team squad for their pre-season training camp in Austria.

Thompson could make his debut today (Saturday 25th October), with Braintree set to face Altrincham at 3pm.

He has been on Derby's books since the age of eight and put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract with the club in December 2023, while he received his first England Under-18s call-up in early 2024.
