CLUB NEWS: Pride Park hosts England U21s for Andorra victory

Pride Park Stadium played host to England Under-21s’ 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying match against Andorra on Monday night.

The Under-21s, managed by former Ram Lee Carsley, came to Pride Park to play their first fixture on home soil since winning the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in July, having also won the competition in 2023.

The Young Lions faced Andorra in qualifying Group D at the home of the Rams.

A dominant England came out on top as Tyrique George’s close-range ripping strike in the 40th minute was enough to claim a 1-0 win in front of a crowd of nearly 10,000.

The match was the seventh time that Pride Park had hosted an England Under-21s fixture, with the most recent match before Monday night coming in March 2014 against Wales.

Later this month, UEFA Women's EURO 2025 winners England Women will play at Pride Park against Australia Women in an international friendly on Tuesday 28th October (7pm kick-off) as part of the Lionesses Homecoming Series, which includes further fixtures around the country during October, November and December.

The club would like to extend its thanks to staff and those at the Football Association for their hard work in staging the Young Lions match in Derby.

The event at Pride Park marks the continuation of the strong relationship between the club and the Football Association, after the Rams’ stadium hosted the 2024/25 Subway Women’s League Cup Final back in March of this year.
