MATCH REPORT: Blackburn Rovers U18 1-2 Derby County U18

Derby County’s Under-18s were 2-1 winners at Blackburn Rovers in Under-18 Premier League - North on Saturday lunchtime.

Bradley Johnson’s side went into the October international break unbeaten in three matches following the 2-1 success at Burnley and 0-0 draw at home to Middlesbrough in the league, as well as a 2-2 draw at Reading in the Premier League Cup, and they made it four with an impressive win on their travels.

Derby took the lead after just four minutes with midfielder Marley Mintus handing the Rams the perfect start to the contest and netting his third goal in five league games this term in the process.

A second goal followed for the Rams moments before half-time courtesy of another midfielder in Charlie Smith, netting his first goal of the season.

Charlie Fletcher got a goal back for Blackburn in the final ten minutes to set up a tense finish, but the Rams saw the closing stages out well to claim the win.

The victory means the Rams have two wins, one draw and four defeats to their name from seven league fixtures in Premier League - North this term.
