Derby County Women will host Women’s Super League 2 side Sunderland in a huge Adobe Women's FA Cup Third Round tie at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Sam Griffiths will be hoping her side can continue in the cup competition after a dazzling 4-1 victory over Stockport County in the previous round booked them a meeting with Sunderland.
Derby County sit 10th in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division table on 10 points, with Loughborough Lightning and Sporting Khalsa sat below on eight and six points respectively.

The Ewes enter the match off the back of a tough run of fixtures in the league, against leaders Burnley and high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rugby Borough in recent weeks.
It will be a similar story come Sunday, where the Ewes will look to be a cohesive, battling unit as they try to secure a place in the hat for the next round.

Supporters can watch Sunday’s FA Cup action for FREE, only if they secure their tickets online ahead of matchday, with tickets returning to standard matchday prices for on-the-day purchases.

Sunderland have operated in the Tier 2 since promotion from the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division in the 2020/21 season, after their application to ascend was accepted by the FA following the coronavirus-affected season, ending three seasons in Tier 3.
Before then, the Black Cats had been a Women’s Super League outfit for four consecutive seasons - a restructuring of the leagues saw them demoted to Tier 3 in the summer of 2018.
Sunderland has proved to be fertile ground for nurturing exceptional talent over the years, with future Lionesses and Women’s Euros champions Beth Mead and Lucy Bronze on the books, as well as other notable talents such as Jordan Nobbs, Lucy Staniforth, and Steph Houghton all plying their trade in the North East.
This season, Sunderland sit in the league above Derby. Tier 2 of the Women’s football pyramid is a tightly contested one, with just four points separating 11th and sixth place.
The Wearside outfit sit 11th in the division and have won two and drawn three of their 10 matches so far this season. Their last win came against Durham on the 19th September.
This is the first time in history that Derby County Women and Sunderland Women have met competitively, and it looks to be an exciting fixture with both sides battling it out for a spot in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.
