Derby County Academy striker Charles Agbawodikeizu has signed his first professional deal with the club.

The highly rated 18-year-old has committed his long-term future to the Rams.
Agbawodikeizu - who joined Derby’s Academy ahead of the 2024/25 season following a stint with West Ham United - made an immediate impact in his debut campaign, scoring 15 goals in 14 Under-18 Premier League North appearances.
Finding the back of the net at least once in each of his first four matches, he notched hat-tricks against Stoke City, Leeds United and Middlesbrough to help the Under-18s finish fourth in the North table.

Such form earned Agbawodikeizu opportunities at Under-21 level, while he also featured on the first team substitutes’ bench for four of Derby’s Sky Bet Championship fixtures in March 2025.
Continuing his development, the teenager scored twice for John Eustace’s side during the Rams’ pre-season schedule last summer, finding the back of the net during wins against Solihull Moors and Walsall.
His progress in 2025/26 has been halted after having surgery on his hamstring, but following a successful rehabilitation period the teenager is nearing a return to competitive action.
Upon penning his first professional deal, Agbawodikeizu told RamsTV: “Signing my first professional contract is a great feeling for me and my family.
“My first season with the Academy gave me a lot of belief and helped me progress my game.
“Being with the First Team and getting those opportunities in pre-season was great. I enjoyed every moment and it gave me a lot of confidence. I can’t wait for the seasons ahead.”
Interim Academy Manager, Jamie Smith, said: “We are delighted to secure the long-term future of Charles to the club. This signifies the club's ambition to retaining our Academy talent, and we are extremely pleased that Charles, his family and his representatives see Derby County as the best place to support him in reaching his potential.
“Charles is a powerful, hardworking striker with a high ceiling. This is a significant milestone for him, and we look forward to helping maximise his development.”
