Derby County can confirm Curtis Nelson has joined Milton Keynes Dons on a permanent deal.
The 32-year-old defender brings his time with the Rams to a close after two-and-a-half seasons of service at Pride Park Stadium.
He will link up with former Derby boss Paul Warne at the Sky Bet League Two side, after racking up 83 appearances in black and white.
Nelson brought a wealth of experience into the Rams’ squad when he joined the club ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
The centre-back played every minute of every fixture in Sky Bet League One across his first season, a vital cog in a Derby defence which kept 22 clean sheets en route to achieving automatic promotion to the Championship, also winning the Jack Stamps Player of the Season.
Last season, he continued to be an essential fixture in the backline, making 27 appearances and netting two goals – notably a bullet header against Queens Park Rangers - as the Rams retained their Championship status.
Nelson’s season was cruelly cut short as he sustained a knee injury in January 2025, but he remained a crucial part of the squad off the pitch throughout the campaign as Derby secured their place in the division under the tutelage of Head Coach John Eustace.
After a long stretch on the sidelines, he returned with outings for the Under-21s and B Team, before making his First Team comeback with appearances from the bench against Birmingham City and Leicester City in December.
Derby County would like to thank Curtis for his dedicated service to the club and wish him every success in the future.
