Jake Rooney has returned to Derby County from his loan spell at Sky Bet League One side Barnsley.

The defender linked up with former Rams midfielder and captain Conor Hourihane - who is now Head Coach at Oakwell - on a season-long loan back in September.
Barnsley have, however, activated a clause to end the loan agreement during the January Transfer Window.
Rooney, 22, made seven appearances for the Reds in all competitions, of which six were starts.

The centre-back featured consistently during pre-season ahead of the current campaign for Derby and gained match minutes in the Carabao Cup clashes against West Bromwich Albion and Burnley prior to heading out of loan.
Rooney has made 23 appearances for the Rams since signing as a free agent in the summer of 2022 and played three times in the promotion-winning campaign from League One in 2023/24.
