INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP: Szmodics Called Up to Ireland Squad for March Break

Sam Szmodics has been selected for duty in the Republic of Ireland national squad for the March international break.

The 30-year-old has made seven appearances since joining the Rams as a deadline day signing on loan from Ipswich Town.

After scoring the match-winning goal in Monday night’s trip to Portsmouth, Szmodics has been selected for the Ireland squad.

Szmodics has represented his nation on 11 previous occasions and will look to add to that tally when they play two matches across the international fixture period.

Starting with the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Czechia on Thursday 26th March (7.45pm kick-off).

Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side will play a further match in the break, which will be either a further World Cup qualifying match or a friendly contest, depending on the outcome of the matches.
