Rams Head Patter

Biography

Midfielder Bobby Clark joined Derby County on a permanent deal from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2026.

It followed an impressive loan spell in the 2025/26 campaign, during which he featured 45 times in black and white.

Clark collected eight goals and assists as he became a fans’ favourite and scooped the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season award.

Establishing himself as an integral member of John Eustace’s side, the attacking midfielder opened his account for the Rams against Premier League side Burnley in the Carabao Cup, before netting the winner against Middlesbrough at Pride Park on New Year’s Day.

It was part of a goal-laden January for Clark, who also got on the scoresheet during away wins over Charlton Athletic and Bristol City, earning him the EA Sports FC EFL Young Player of the Month trophy.

Clark’s footballing journey began with Birmingham City’s Academy, when his father Lee was Manager of the club, before moving on to Newcastle United.

He spent the majority of his youth career with the St. James’ Park club, but his potential attracted interest from Liverpool, and he made the move to Merseyside in August 2021.

The midfielder signed his first professional contract in 2022 and he was a regular for the Reds’ Under-18s throughout 2021/22, scoring 13 goals in 23 league appearances.

He stepped up to senior level ahead of the following season and made his Premier League bow as a substitute against Bournemouth in August 2022, before making his full professional debut against Derby in the Carabao Cup in November.

Clark was a regular in Premier League 2 during the remainder of the 2022/23 season and his displays ensured an increased role at senior level for the next campaign.

He played 12 times in all competitions, the highlight of which was his substitute appearance in the 2024 Carabao Cup final at Wembley, called upon by Jürgen Klopp to help Liverpool to see off Chelsea after extra time.

Just over two weeks later, he scored the first goal of his career against Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16.

RB Salzburg appointed Klopp’s long-term assistant Pepijn Lijnders as Head Coach in the summer of 2024, and he moved to sign Clark ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Lijnders departed in December 2024, but Clark remained a regular throughout, making 25 appearances in all competitions, including six in the UEFA Champions League.

At international level, Clark has represented England at several age group levels, including Under-19 and Under-20.
