Biography

Derby County completed the signing of midfielder Tyrese Fornah from Nottingham Forest in August 2023.

He joined on a permanent basis after an undisclosed agreement was reached by the two clubs.

Fornah, who can play in a variety of midfield roles, signed a two-year contract which will run until the summer of 2025.

Fornah initially came through the youth ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion before he made the move north to join Forest’s Academy set-up in 2018.

Fornah impressed at youth level before being handed his senior debut off the bench for the Reds in an FA Cup Third Round tie at Chelsea in January 2020.

He went on to join Casa Pia on loan in the Portuguese Second Division soon afterwards although his spell abroad was short-lived owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fornah’s next loan spell came in the 2020/21 season as he spent the entire campaign on loan in League One with Plymouth Argyle and he made 44 appearances in all competitions and claimed three assists.

He returned to Forest for the first half of the 2021/22 season, starting twice in the Carabao Cup and coming off the bench once in the Championship as well as being a regular in Premier League 2, before racking up 19 appearances during a half-season loan spell back in League One with Shrewsbury Town.

Fornah was back on the move again in the 2022/23 season as he made the step up to the Championship in a season-long loan with Reading and made 37 appearances for the Royals.

The spell with Reading also saw Fornah score his first career goals in home wins over Middlesbrough and Rotherham United respectively while he also contributed with two assists.
