Derby County Football Club, alongside fellow EFL clubs, are proud to support World Mental Health Day 2019.
The EFL and their charity partner, Mind, recently launched an awareness campaign for World Mental Health Day 2019, Goals Worth Talking About.
The campaign is the latest activity by the EFL and Mind, who are currently in the second year of their ground-breaking charity partnership which aims to improve the nation’s mental health and wellbeing and the approach to mental health in football.

Mind’s own research shows that over half of people (56 per cent) feel that football fans find it easier to show their emotions at football matches than at any other time.
Despite this the charity also knows that many fans, particularly men, are likely to be struggling in silence for fear of opening up about their mental health.
Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem, but hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling.
Since launching their strategy in 2012, they have seen some significant changes in mental health. In just seven years, public attitudes are improving, support is growing, and mental health is high on the political agenda.
Mind’s Partnership with the EFL launched at the start of the 2018/19 season and runs until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
It aims to:
* raise awareness about mental health with fans, clubs and staff
* raise funds to deliver life-changing support
* help improve the approach to mental health in football working with other partners in the game.
During their time as the EFL’s designated charity, Derby County has worked closely with Mind and they were the selected charity at the home fixture against West Bromwich Albion in May 2019.
On the day the following took place:
* A bucket collection before the match to support vital local mental health services provided by Derby’s local Mind branch
* Information posters about mental health and Mind throughout the ground and in the matchday programme alongside
* An awareness-raising video on the big screen
* Announcements about the day over the tannoy
* Derby’s players wearing Mind t-shirts in their pre-match warm up, along with Club Mascots Rammie & Ewie
* Club officials wearing a club branded EFL/Mind pin badges
In addition, the Mind logo appears on all EFL shirts as part of the new style names and numbers. The iconic new design, for the first time in English football, incorporates a charity’s logo into the player name on the back of every EFL shirt across all the Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.
We are encouraging all Rams supporters to donate what they can to the charity to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

As part of the EFL’s partnership
