Derby County will travel to Wigan Athletic in this year's Boxing Day fixture on Tuesday afternoon in their latest Sky Bet League One outing (3pm kick-off).

The Rams go into the clash at the DW Stadium on the back of a fine run of form having won six of the last seven in the league, however the Latics were 2-1 winners over Derby at Pride Park Stadium on the opening day of the campaign back in August.

In the lead-up to the game getting underway, dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you need to know...

Team News

Defender Ryan Nyambe could return to the fold after missing the Rams' last four matches with a groin issue. The former Wigan defender returned to training earlier this week and could face his old club, while winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is nursing a slight ankle knock and is a doubt for the game.

Midfielder Korey Smith (knee) and striker Conor Washington (ankle) remain out of action until the New Year after sustaining injuries in November.

Striker Martyn Waghorn (calf) is making good progress on the road to recovery but the Christmas fixtures are set to come too soon for him.

Long-term absentees Jake Rooney (knee) and Elliot Embleton (quad) remain ruled out of action for the foreseeable.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Head Coach Paul Warne spoke to RamsTV to preview the Boxing Day trip to Wigan.

He said: "I am sure Wigan will relish the big games like our team does but we need to concentrate on ourselves and what we're very good at and need to improve on.

"If their best players come to the party then it will be a very tough game."

Midfielder Max Bird also previewed the start of a busy festive period when he spoke to RamsTV.

He said: "We know we've got a top group of players here and we demand a lot from each other and, like I've said before, we've got a couple more gears in us.

"We're going to keep pushing, trying to pick up results and if we can pick up the results and put in some better performances over the next few games then it will make a big difference."
