Team news confirmed as Derby take on the Cobblers in their third pre-season game

Derby County's team news for tonight’s pre-season friendly at npower League 2 side Northampton Town has been confirmed to dcfc.co.uk.

After kicking off their pre-season campaign against Mansfield Town and Burton Albion last week, the Rams’ preparations for the new season will continue tonight against the Cobblers and then on Friday at Colchester United.

Swiss trialist Valentin Gjokaj is again in the team after impressing Derby boss Nigel Clough in last week’s matches. The 18-year-old centre-back initially joined on a week-long trial at the start of last weekend, but Clough confirmed yesterday that he will remain with the Rams for a further week.

Left-back Gareth Roberts misses the second game in a row with a tight hamstring while Frank Fielding and Craig Bryson have slight knocks so aren’t risked.

Derby County team: Legzdins, Brayford, O’Brien, Gjokaj, Naylor, Bailey, Doyle, Hughes, B Davies, Bennett, Robinson.
