Young Derby squad to take on Matlock in final pre-season clash.

A Derby County XI will take on non-league outfit Matlock Town in a pre-season friendly this evening.

The Rams will visit the Reynolds Stadium to take on the Evo Stik Northern Premier side in their final pre-season game ahead of the start of the 2012-13 npower Championship season.

Derby boss Nigel Clough will send a young side across Derbyshire to take on Mark Atkins’s men after the first-team went to extra-time in their Capital One Cup clash with Scunthorpe United last night, as well as handing a number of trialists the chance to impress.

First-year professionals Mats Morch, Stefan Galinski and Kane Richards are set to be involved as well as Conor Doyle and trialists Valentin Gjokaj, Danny Barrera, Roope Riski and Marc McNulty. The latter has teamed up with Derby this week on trial from Scottish side Livington.

Midfielder Ben Davies and defender Tom Naylor both came off the bench against Scunthorpe last night, and have been included in tonight's squad in order to gain further match sharpness.

The rest of the squad is likely to be made up by a number of scholars, after the youth team returned from a pre-season trip to Holland last week.

Kick-off this evening is at 7:45pm, and dcfc.co.uk will have a match review after the conclusion of the final whistle.
