Forsyth Delighted At Permanent Switch

Scotsman thrilled to have signed a three-year deal to complete a permanent move to Pride Park.

Craig Forsyth has spoken of his delight after putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with the Rams, following the completion of the Scotsman’s long-awaited move from fellow Championship side Watford.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a three-month loan spell with the Rams last season; featuring in 10 games before being recalled by the Hornets as they entered into their Play-Off campaign.
As well as initial temporary move to the Rams during the 2012/13 campaign, Forsyth also had a spell at League Two side Bradford City, and the former loanee is pleased to be at Pride Park on a permanent basis.
He told Rams Player:“I am delighted to get the move done and dusted.
“It (the transfer) has been ongoing over the summer, but I am really pleased to get it done and to finally be here.
“The club made me feel wanted and that was a big thing for me.
“Last year I had a few spells out on loan; moving around a bit, but hopefully I can settle in here and spend at least the next three years here.
“I think that over the course of the final few months of last season I really started to enjoy football again, and that definitely made me want to come back here if that chance ever came up – and fortunately it did.
“It is great to secure my future; I know that I have got three years here at Derby and hopefully in those three years, both the Club and I can push on.
“With the players that we have got here, I really think we can be right up there this year.”
Forsyth joined Watford from Scottish side Dundee in the summer of 2011 and played 22 games during his first season at Vicarage Road, scoring five goals.
During his time in Scotland, the 24-year-old was predominantly deployed as a left-midfielder, although during his initial temporary spell at Pride Park, Forsyth featured mainly at left-back – a position the former Dundee man says he is happy to fight for.
“It feels as though it is a bit of a fresh start, but knowing most of the boys and the staff from last season makes it a lot easier,” he added.
“I am aiming to nail down the left-back spot and to play as many games as possible, because I have not played a lot of games consistently over the last two years.
“However, playing regularly over a longer period of time will obviously help build the relationships and the understanding.”
