Defender named the Supporters' Club Player of the Season for 2013/14.

Jake Buxton was named as the Derby County Supporters' Club Player of the Year for the 2013/14 season on Monday night.

The defender was presented with the award by former Derby duo Tommy Johnson and Marc Edworthy in the Pedigree Suite at the iPro Stadium, as part of the Supporters’ Club's Annual End of Season Dinner.

Head Coach Steve McClaren, his coaching staff and the entire Derby playing squad were in attendance.

The players helped hand out a series of Supporters' Club awards for the 2013-14 season before the Player of the Year Trophy, which was won by defender Richard Keogh a year ago, was handed to his central defensive partner.

All 17 branches of the Supporters' Club cast their vote on who they regarded as Derby's star man this season, and Buxton came out on top despite strong competition from a number of his team-mates.

29-year-old Buxton has featured in all 46 of Derby’s games so far this season and he wore the captain’s armband during December and January when Keogh was sidelined with a knee injury.

Following the presentation of the Player of the Year Award, the players stayed around to pose for photographs and sign autographs, as well as engaging with Rams supporters.
