Will Hughes has been named as Derby County’s Player of the Season for the 2014/15 campaign.
The midfielder has added his name – for the first time - to an illustrious list of players to have lifted the famous Jack Stamps Trophy.
Hughes has made 47 appearances for the Rams this season, scoring three goals in the process.
His goals have all come in wins for Steve McClaren’s side, against Blackburn Rovers (3-2), AFC Bournemouth (2-0) and Chesterfield (2-0).
The performances of the Academy graduate have been to a high and consistent standard throughout the campaign, helping Derby to maintain a second successive promotion challenge.
As well as performing regularly for Derby, Hughes has continued to be a regular face in Gareth Southgate’s England Under 21 side this season.
He helped the Three Lions qualify for this summer’s European Under 21 Championships towards the end of 2014, scoring a vital goal in their Play-Off encounter with Croatia.
Derby fans voted in their thousands in an online poll and there were a number of strong candidates in the running after a successful season on the pitch.
Hughes came out on top, with leading goalscorer Chris Martin finishing in second place and Johnny Russell in third spot.
Hughes will be presented with the Jack Stamps Trophy on the iPro Stadium playing surface by Shaun Barker prior to this afternoon's Sky Bet Championship game against Reading (12:15pm).
Derby County Head Coach Steve McClaren said: “First and foremost I must congratulate Will on winning the Jack Stamps Trophy.
“Will is a fantastic talent and he has been a consistent figure in our midfield throughout the season, both in terms of the games he has played and also his performance level.
“We knew when we arrived the quality that he possessed and he has worked hard to continue to improve and develop.”
Meanwhile attacker Tom Ince has been named as the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Year Award.
