Born in Vienna, Austria, Andreas Weimann’s journey into football began with his hometown club FC Stadlau, before he joined Rapid Vienna, the club he supported growing up, as a 13-year-old.Comes from a sporting background back in Austria, Weimann’s mother and father were 110 metre hurdle record holders whilst his mum, Sabine, competed in a European Championship.Catching the eye on the international stage, a 15-year-old Weimann sealed a move to England’s top flight by signing with Aston Villa’s Academy in 2006Initially starting out in the West Midlands club’s reserve team, Weimann finished as the Reserve South League’s top scorer in his first season with nine goals after he filled the void left by Nathan Delfouneso in the 2009-10 season. His impressive form saw him named in the provisional squad for the final game of the Premier League 2009-10 campaign against Blackburn Rovers.Undeterred, the forward came back firing the following pre-season and notably scored a hat trick against the Yau Yee League Select of Hong Kong as Villa won the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament.Weimann added further goals against Walsall before featuring for the first team in the final pre-season fixture against Valencia.Under Caretaker Manager, Kevin MacDonald, the Austrian made his Aston Villa debut as a late substitute for Ashley Young against West Ham United in August 2010.Weimann went out in search of more first team opportunities and secured two separate loan spells with Watford leading up to September 2011 after he was recalled early by his parent club.Weimann’s fine form for the reserves continued as he netted two hat tricks before finishing the 2011-12 campaign as a regular in the Villa forward line after he scored his first goal for the club in March 2012 against Fulham. The 2012-13 season proved to be Weimann’s most prolific in a Villa shirt as he netted 12 goals in all competitions and was rewarded with a fresh contract.A regular face from then on, Weimann made over 30 league appearances for Villa in each of the seasons from 2012 to 2015 as he took his tally of total appearances for the club to near the 150 mark since breaking into the side, originally in 2010.INTERNATIONAL CAREER:
