Sam Rush Commits His Long Term Future To Derby County

Derby County’s President & Chief Executive Sam Rush has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new five-year contract.

Rush joined the club in January 2013 from the global sports and entertainment agency Wasserman Media Group.

Since his arrival Rush has overseen significant progress for the club both on and off the pitch and in November 2014, he claimed the fcbusiness Chief Executive Officer of the Year Award.

He was a director and a shareholder within Derby’s previous ownership structure and, under the ownership of new Chairman Mel Morris, Rush will hold the same posts.

Commenting on the news, Mel Morris said: “I am thrilled that Sam Rush has committed his future to Derby County Football Club by signing this new contract.

“Sam’s arrival was a key part of a big turnaround for this club and he has contributed hugely to where we find ourselves today.

“He was one of the main reasons why I wanted to get involved in May 2014 and for him to remain with us for the long-term is excellent news for everyone connected with the club.

“We have a very good working relationship and I am looking forward to working closely with Sam long into the future.

“Like myself, Sam has a huge desire to try and help this club get back to where we believe it belongs and that’s in the Premier League.”

‎Rush said: “I am delighted to have signed a new long-term contract at this magnificent football club.

“Prior to joining Derby County at the start of 2013 I had spent all of my life living in London, but I now regard Derbyshire as my home.

“My family are very settled here and we have a huge affinity with the club and local area while the support of the fans has always been outstanding.”

He added: “The arrival of Mel Morris is a huge moment in time for Derby County Football Club.

“There is no question at all that there is a great future ahead of us and for me there isn’t a more exciting role in English football right now than working with Mel. I can only continue to learn from him over the coming years.

“Our collective aim is to return Derby County Football Club to the Premier League and make us a sustainable member of the top division once again."
