Abdoul Camara says Derby County’s ambitions for the future convinced him to become the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old Guinea international has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract for undisclosed fee today to bolster Paul Clement’s attacking options for the second half of the 2015/16 season.
In his first interview with Rams Player HD as a Derby player, Camara revealed that he has always harboured ambitions of playing in England.
And after hearing of Derby’s initial interest, the pacey wideman said he took time to assess whether he was ready for the move to England, but he insists that he is fully prepared for test that lies before him.
He told Rams Player HD: “Playing in England is my dream. Before coming I took time to think and assess if I was ready for this.
“I’m here, I’m ready and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. I’m happy to be here, I’m looking forward to getting started.
“I’m a quick player, I like to dribble and make a difference for the team. I also like to defend and help my full back. I like to play for the team.
“I’m happy to be here. I will give my all for the team, for the supporters and for my coach.
“I have been like that throughout my career and most recently during my time in Angers. The players here at Derby are like that now and I just want to add to that.”
Signed and sealed, Camara also spoke of Derby’s Head Coach Paul Clement and the importance of knowing that he wanted him to join his ranks.
With a ‘dream’ to play in the Barclays Premier League, he says that he is going to transfer his natural hard working nature on to the field as a Derby player and do everything he can to help Clement, his new team mates and supporters reach the top flight come the end of the season.
He added: “I know of Paul. I know that he is a very good coach, he likes to play football and for me it was important that he, and the club, wanted me.
“The team over at Angers have played very well. Alongside those players, I have had a good season.
“Now I have got a chance to bring that to Derby. The club appear to like my game and, for me, Derby are a very good team with a lot of very good players. That’s why I have decided to come here.
“I know the Championship, I have seen a few games and I know that Derby is a team with a lot of ambition.
“As a player I have that same ambition to succeed too and it was important for myself to come to a club that matched that.
“I want to play in the Premier League and I want to do the best for my team, for Derby, my coach and the supporters to help the club get into the Premier League.”
