Derby County and Derbyshire Constabulary will be taking extra precautions to stop the recent thefts that have occurred on parked cars in and around the local area during the club’s home matches.

On Boxing Day, during the Rams’ home encounter with Fulham, four vehicles parked on the Ascot Drive Industrial Estate were attacked, with windows being smashed and in-built Sat Nav’s being stolen from their VWs.

The owners of all four vehicles were all in attendance watching the game at the iPro Stadium.

This was followed by further thefts that took place during the club’s recent two home fixtures.

On the night of Derby’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match with Manchester United on Friday 29 January, five VWs on Derby East and five on Derby North were attacked in the same way.

On the former, the Derby supporters were parked on Pride Park and Ascot Drive Estate, whilst on the latter the incidents took place on West Meadows Industrial Estate and Chaddesden.

Most recently on Tuesday 2 February, whilst Derby were at home to Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship, two more were attacked on Pride Park and Ascot Drive.

Extra patrols have been organised by the Derby Safe Neighbourhood team for the remaining eight home games of the 2015/16 season.
