Derby County Community Trust have teamed up with the Royal British Legion and Armed Forces Covenant to expand the already successful Forever Active programme.

Forever Active offers Derby’s over 60s the opportunity to participate in walking football and both stability and strength based activities.

Since its launch in October 2016, the programme has been well received with over 100 participants signing up.

The success of the programme has seen the Derby County Community Trust look to further expand its offer.

Over the next 12 months the Royal British Legion and Armed Forces Covenant will fund the programme to offer specific classes to veterans and further improve the wider Forever Active programme.

Community Trust staff will access care homes across the county to work with veterans and ex-armed service men and women to introduce them to the programme and encourage further access to the fun and sociable sessions.

Walking football, circuits, walking groups, tea dances, darts, table tennis and bowls will all be included in the new timetable will continue to be a fantastic opportunity for participants to socialise over a cuppa before and after sessions.

The unique link to Derby County Football Club will allow those who are big supporters to take part in sessions run from Pride Park Stadium, access historic memorabilia and even represent the club’s official walking football team.

The programme is completely free to attend and is aimed at both men and women over 60 from across Derbyshire.

Sign up sessions will take place at Pride Park Stadium on 17th and 20th July to learn more about Forever Active and get involved.
