Derby County will play the penultimate game of their pre-season games programme at Sky Bet League 1 side Northampton Town this evening.

Gary Rowett’s men will take on the Cobblers at Sixfields Stadium with the new season’s big kick-off – at Sunderland on Friday 4th August - fast approaching.

Tonight’s game against Justin Edinburgh’s side will get underway at 7:45pm.

The game against the Cobblers represents another chance for Rowett’s players to impress and stake a further claim for a first-team spot on the opening day and beyond.

Derby will be keen to maintain their impressive pre-season form tonight - having won four and drawn one from five matches so far – but the main priority is gaining match fitness and implementing a style of play for the upcoming campaign.

The four wins so far in pre-season have been against Kidderminster Harriers (4-0), Macclesfield Town (2-0), Port Vale (1-0) and German side Kaiserslautern (2-0), with the sole draw coming against Doncaster Rovers (1-1).

Rowett hinted after the Kaiserslautern game on Saturday that he could give those that were on the bench at the Fritz-Walter Stadion a chance to impress from the start against Northampton.

Therefore, the likes of David Nugent, Craig Bryson and Chris Baird could start – while it is expected that Curtis Davies will return to the fold after missing the trip to Germany for personal reasons.

It is hoped that a squad for the match will be confirmed on dcfc.co.uk later today.

Supporters can watch tonight’s game on RamsTV's live stream for FREE - simply by registering an account on dcfc.co.uk.

As ever, a full match report and reaction will also be on dcfc.co.uk and RamsTV after the final whistle.
