From the Sky Bet Championship, Derby County’s focus now turns to the Carabao Cup and a trip to South Yorkshire to face Barnsley, kick-off: 7:45pm.

Derby County make the short trip to Oakwell off that impressive 5-0 victory over Hull City on Friday night and ahead of the match, dcfc.co.uk has pulled together all the key information you are going to need to know…

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS?

Gary Rowett is expected to make a number of changes to his starting line-up when Derby County travel to face Barnsley at Oakwell.

The Rams beat Hull City 5-0 last time out, but it is expected that Rowett will freshen up his squad.

The 43-year-old has confirmed that Andre Wisdom is set to return to the matchday fold after missing the victory over the Tigers through illness.

The match could also see George Thorne make his first competitive appearance since May 2016.

That aside, Rowett has also confirmed that academy prospects, Max Bird and Callum Guy, are likely to be involved in the squad in South Yorkshire.

WHAT DID THE BOSS HAVE TO SAY?

Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Oakwell, Gary Rowett said: “If we did anything different to what we did at Grimsby, it would be unprofessional of us.

“We have got to try and balance off the demands of the amount of games we have in the Championship as well as this cup because we are a game behind.

“If you look at the team we put out against Grimsby it had the feel of a Championship team. In my opinion, we have to be sensible.

“We want to win the game, the players that come into the team will want to win the game, but we have to try and balance all of those things.

“I won’t play exactly the same team as on Friday night. Not only would we risk playing players that are fatigued, but we would have the potential of having a poorer performance because it is a very different game.

“We will have a look at the team and pick what we think will be strong enough to go out there and get the win.”

WHO IS THE PLAYER TO WATCH?

Welsh international striker Tom joined the Reds in the summer of 2016, arriving from Walsall for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

Shrewsbury-born Bradshaw joined his hometown club from Aberystwyth back in 2009 but it wasn't until Walsall picked him up in 2014 that he found his goal-scoring touch.

Forty goals for the Saddlers in 86 appearances saw him linked with many big moves but it was the Reds who won the chase for his signature.

The frontman managed eight goals last season, which includes a memorable brace at Aston Villa, and Bradshaw will be hoping to build on that moving forward.

It’s been a case of so far so good on that front too, given that he has scored four goals from his first seven matches of this campaign!

WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE MET?

BARNSLEY 2-0 DERBY COUNTY
Saturday 13th August 2016

A goal in each half saw Derby County fall to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Barnsley the last time they visited Oakwell in August 2016.

A huge slice of luck saw the hosts, promoted back to the second tier after a two-year absence, take the lead as Conor Hourihane’s drive onto the post was turned into the back of the net off the outstretched Scott Carson.

Despite finishing the first 45 minutes strongly, Alfie Mawson’s header in the early stages of the second half extinguished the Rams’ fire as they fell to their first defeat of the 2016/17 season.

Barnsley: Davies, Bree, Roberts, Mawson, White, Hammill (Lee, 90), Scowen, Hourihane, Kent, Bradshaw (Payne, 73), Watkins (D’Almeida, 90)

Substitutes not used: Townsend, Yiadom, Macdonald, Moncur

Derby County: Carson, Christie, Keogh (C), Shackell, Forsyth; Blackman, Bryson, Butterfield (Russell, 55), Hendrick (Hughes, 12); Ince, Bent (Martin, 46)

Substitutes not used: Grant, Baird, Johnson, Pearce

Attendance: 15,049 (3,932 Derby supporters)

WHO ARE THE MATCH OFFICIALS?

Eddie Ilderton will take charge of Derby County's Carabao Cup Second Round tie at Barnsley on Tuesday evening.

Ilderton has taken charge of six games so far this season and has produced 20 yellow and four red cards.

His last Derby game was the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town back in March 2016.

Ilderton will be assisted by Nicholas Barnard and Anthony Moore on the lines, whilst Karl Evans has been appointed as the fourth official.
