A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United saw Derby County’s Under-18s suffer their first defeat of the 2017/18 campaign.

At the Training Centre in partnership with the University of Derby, goals from Angel Gomes and Nishan Burkart either side of the half time interval ended Derby’s three-match unbeaten run in Premier League - North.

In match of very few chances, opportunities for both sides came at a premium, but ultimately it was the visitors who came out on top as Justin Walker’s and Rory Delap’s side struggled to break down the organised United defence.

Derby’s best chance of the match came early on in the second half, however Jordan Mills was unable to find any of his teammates with his well-placed cross.

What’s To Come…

After suffering their first defeat of the campaign, Walker’s and Delap’s side next face a trip to Brockhall Training Ground in a fortnight’s time to face Blackburn Rovers.

Derby’s next home game is on Saturday 30th of September against Middlesbrough.

Despite the result, thanks to the strong start from Walker’s and Delap's side, the Rams retain their place towards the top of the division – residing in third behind only Manchester City and Everton.
